“Toda parte de nuestras vidas va a ser tecnología. Decir que no eres parte de la tecnología será casi como decir que no existes”. Enmarcada en esta visión -que se va convirtiendo en realidad de forma acelerada con la inteligencia artificial (AI) y todas las tecnologías de automatización y predicción- la emprendedora Laura I. Gómez advirtió que “AI va a perpetuar el racismo y los prejuicios que tenemos si solo la construyen humanos con esos prejuicios”.

As this year’s International Women’s Day theme was #PressForProgress, the element of gender parity was also a frequently discussed topic at the forum.
Sofia Stolberg, founder of Piloto151, highlighted the efforts of the recently established Womentechover community, who are dedicated to increasing opportunities and advocating for inclusive work environments for women in the tech industry. The community offers access to events, webinars, podcast and content, both locally and globally, as well as networking and connecting with other women in the sector. Currently, only a small percent of women belong in executive positions in the tech industry; a factor the team behind Womentechover hope to increase in the coming times.
Last week, San Juan’s Convention Center was home to EXPO Puerto Rico, a multi-sector industry event organized by the Puerto Rico Trade & Export Co. where dozens of international buyers had the chance to interact with over 100 different local and international businesses. The event consisted of forums on commerce, international trade and technology, as well as workshops on tax incentives and tools to develop small and midsize business, as well as companies who are dedicated to export services, global branding and e-commerce.
